Welcome

I am delighted to welcome new students and their families to Marrickville West Primary School.
We are committed to providing excellence in education for all students. We work together to ensure that students at our school are given the opportunity to reach their personal best through educational experiences that are founded in educational “best-practice” and target the needs of each individual.
Marrickville West is a community centred school, providing equitable, quality education in a caring and supportive environment. There is a Community Centre, Connect Marrickville, on site that provides many services to local families including playgroups, support networks and parenting programs.
Explicit programs in Literacy aim to develop reading, writing, talking and listening skills through class, group and individual learning formats. Numeracy Programs target the development of students’ capacity in number and problem solving skills across all grades.
Technology is an integral part of our students' learning. All classrooms are equipped with computers, students have access to digital photographic and video equipment. Individual students and class groups are able to access the internet in the school Library and Computer Room.
Marrickville West competes successfully against other schools in district sports competitions and has various ongoing programs to provide students with a range of activities that develop health, fitness and motor skills. We encourage students to expand their creative capacity through specialist programs in Creative Arts. Our Community Garden and participation in projects such as Earth Kids teach children to care for their environment.
We work towards developing, within each student, safe and healthy habits and personal values that reflect the values, rights and responsibilities of our wider community.
We look forward to working with you as we strive to meet the challenge of preparing our children for successful, lifelong learning.
