Connect Marrickville' is a Schools as Communities Centre, funded under the Families NSW (formerly Families First) initiative to support families raising young children from birth to 8 years in the South Marrickville area.
Based in the grounds of Marrickville West Public School the centre offers a range of activities and services.
Connect Marrickville' aims to:
- increase supportive connections for families
- increase use of health and community services, resources and activities
- increase social, emotional and communication skills for school preparedness
- promote early literacy for children
- increase community engagement and participation
by a range of activities such as:
- supported playgroups (eg. Multi Mix Mob Indigenous Playgroup, Young Parents, Open)
- women's groups (eg. Indonesian, Japanese, Multicultural, Health and Well-being)
- adult education with creche (eg. English classes and other TAFE Outreach courses)
- parenting groups (eg. "Parenting Between Cultures", 1,2,3 Magic)
- community cultural development (eg. Dance Around the World, Film Club, Cultural Cooking Exchange)
